Our body has an order in which it likes to move waste out of the body – just like a funnel.

Full Body Detoxification Support with Essential Oils

If one of the pathways of detoxification is blocked or compromised in some way, every pathway above it will be impacted and won’t be able to drain effectively, essentially creating a backlog of toxicity and waste accumulation. The next path of least resistance will be sought out for your body to clear out the crap.

For example, your lymphatic system is sluggish and stagnant and so your body begins to eliminate toxicity through the skin resulting in acne and other skin irritations. Expressing toxicity through our skin although very effective, particularly for heavy metals, mold and pesticides, is often unsightly and causes distress due to the impact on our self confidence.

When it comes to taking out the cellular ‘trash’ so to speak, our essential oils are amazing tools to support the process of autophagy which is how our cells clean house. Autophagy = our cells eating themselves, they munch up the crap, get it ready for the garbage collectors and repair the essential. Basically a form of cellular renovation.

Citrus oils are rich in limonene and limonene has proven a powerful ally in supporting autophagy within our cells. It acts as sort of like a cellular traffic light that gives your body the go ahead to proceed with the renovations and clean up required. Pretty cool stuff.

Frankincense, Geranium and Fir Tree oils have also demonstrated similar cellular cleansing activity. It is this same property that makes these essential oils so powerful when it comes to breast care support. It makes perfect sense that we would want to incorporate essential oils that encourage our cells to clean house of anything potentially defective or diseased right before it can cause damage. Love on your boobies with these oils won’t you.

Breathe them in on the daily, incorporate them into your aromatic dressing body oils, add citrus oils to your food creations and water bottles, however you like to use them is just wonderful.

Ok next we have our organs and tissues.
Now toxins have a strong affinity for fat which means that typically, the fattiest parts of our body are also the most toxic. Think our bone marrow, brain, butt, breasts. Naturally, as our toxic burden increases we can gain weight as our fat cells expand to store more junk. As one starts to detoxify and cleanse their body, the result of weight loss happens naturally as toxins are released from our adipose tissues.

The best essential oils to aid in the release of stored toxicity within our fatty organs and tissues are: Coriander, all Citrus Oils but particularly Grapefruit, Cypress and Zendocrine. Both Grapefruit and Coriander are lipolytic essential oils which is a fancy term for describing fat dissolving. Be prepared though that as our adipose tissue houses toxicity, releasing it can be uncomfortable and you may experience detox symptoms! I always recommend incorporating the use of binders such as Activated Charcoal, Zeolite, Bentonite, Apple Pectin, Fulvic Acid, when using Coriander so as to mop up and capture toxins as they are unleashed and prevent them from recirculating around the body making you feel unwell.

Our Lymphatic System absolutely LOVES to be stimulated given it lacks a pump of it’s own to move lymph fluid around the body. This means Dry Body Brushing regularly, MOVING your body daily, getting a mini rebounder trampoline is not only FUN it’s also one of the very best ways to exercise your lymphatic pump, fascia blasting is also something you might want to explore but be warned…..it hurts! The best oils to support clear motion and flow of our internal waters are: Cypress (again), Yarrow, Laurel Leaf, Eucalyptus (both Laurel and Eucalyptus can be found in Easy Air/ Breathe) and Lemongrass.

Now we come to the liver and gallbladder. Boy do these guys get an absolute flogging on the daily. Contrary to belief, the liver does not store toxins, it processes toxins. The intention of liver support is therefore purely to help it perform its toxin processing duties to the best of its ability. The gallbladder is not commonly thought of as playing a role in detoxification but guys, it is SO important because it DOES store toxicity. The Bile that is produced within the gallbladder contains a whole lot of junk and when that bile is released, those toxins enter the digestive system on their journey down towards the colon.

Now, many people (24% of the population to be exact) such as my partner do not have the ability to remove toxins that enter the digestive system via the colon. Instead those toxins continue to recirculate throughout the body creating widespread inflammation and damage. This is another reason why the use of Binding agents is so so helpful to mop up toxicity and ensure it is safely removed from the body once and for all. We take Binders daily for this reason and always if we are deliberately stimulating the body to release toxicity from tissues and cells.

Oils that support the Liver and Gallbladder include: The Zendocrine Blend, Helichrysum, Lemon and Grapefruit, Geranium, Rosemary, Turmeric and Melissa which has litholytic properties aka the ability to dissolve calculi such as stones. I would seek to incorporate them both topically applied directly over the liver/ gallbladder and internally as we do really want those chemical constituents to travel through the digestive system.

Lastly we come to the colon – my favourite! If you aren’t pooping at least twice a day, you aren’t eliminating enough and remember, you are not what you eat, you are what you don’t eliminate.

Things that help with having a really great shit are:
– A Squatty Potty for proper colon alignment. Seriously they are the bomb. It slides right on out like a baby seal as Woz would say.
– Hydration. Filtered water on the daily and plenty of it. Spike it with your favourite citrus oils to improve motility & peristalsis.
– Fibre is a no brainer. We’re not talking nasty Metamucil here ( whose ingredients list includes Aspartame, GMO Citric Acid, Maltodextrin). We’re talking a variety of Veggies and whole fruit in the diet on the daily.
Essential oils that support the colon and peristalsis include: DigestZen, Ginger, Marjoram, Cilantro, Lemon and Fennel. Applied topically in a clockwise direction over the lower abdomen would be best and most effective approach. You might also enjoy placing a hot water bottle or hot compress over the top to really drive and penetrate those oil in if things are really clogged up.

So there we go! That’s a journey through your body’s drainage funnel and how we can support whole body detoxification.

I hope this breakdown was helpful for you guys and any questions please feel free to pop them below.
