Why You Should Detox Your Armpits

I spend a lot of time talking about arm pits in my oils classes.

I LOVE me some armpit action and discussion. Last weekends oils workshop saw a fierce discussion over the inability to find a natural deodorant that stopped the sweat.

Because of this very reason, so many people never stick to making the swap away from conventional deodorants to the natural variety.

Friends…..our body MUST sweat. It’s a biological response we ALL have designed to regulate our core temperature and eliminate toxins.

Stopping the sweat is one of the very worst things we can do for the health of our body yet on TV every night we will see a commercial promoting ‘No Sweat for 48 hours’. I’ll take the sweat thanks.

Here’s the thing – we have around 20 lymph nodes in each arm pit and each of them are assigned the task of acting as our waste storage and removal system. They collect harmful toxins and bacteria and await the lymph fluid to come around and carry it away. Those same nodes work to protect our immune system, produce bacteria fighting blood cells and carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells around our body.

When we apply a conventional, chemical filled deodorant we are literally clogging our little nodes full of crap that inhibit them from doing the critical jobs they need to.

Not only do they contain a slurry of harmful ingredients, they also block one of the most concentrated sweat gland sites on the body. This essentially causes you to sweat internally rather than externally, causing a build-up not only of toxic chemicals, but also your body’s natural waste and impurities.

When we use these top selling 48 Hour Clinically Proven No Sweat deodorants (pictured) directly over the lymph nodes in our armpits it is a sure-fire way to disrupt the delicate balance of our hormones, disrupt our immune system and potentially lead to the big C. Breast cancers often develop in the upper outer part of the breast — the area closest to the armpit, which is where antiperspirants are applied.

There is nothing good about using antiperspirants.

Yes the FDA has approved aluminium as a safe ingredient in small doses for humans but I don’t believe everything the FDA says given they are easily paid off and lobbyist’s do a pretty damn fine job of convincing the FDA to approve things that have never been tested let alone prove safe.

When we switch to a natural alternative and allow the sweat glands to do what they’re supposed to do (i.e. SWEAT), the armpits react by pushing out all of the built-up toxins that have been trapped for years. This causes a detox reaction as this sudden “unplugging” allows the body to release an onslaught of nasty chemicals.

This transitional period can be really stinky!

The funky odour, red bumps, tender lymph nodes, irritation, and excessive sweat is what can make it seem like your natural deodorant isn’t working. Work through it and stick with it friends please as this will be one of the best things you do for your wellbeing.

Allow your body the luxury of detoxifying all the crap we’ve burdened it with such as-
Aluminum – Linked directly to Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurological disorders.
• Silicone – Dimethicone interferes with the skin’s natural sweating process, temperature regulation. It’s like covering our armpits in a rubber suit.
• Antibacterial agents – Immune Modulators known to disrupt the endocrine system, kill the natural micro-biome present and impair immune function.
Parabens – Key players in hormone disruption and estrogen dominance.
Phthalates – Disrupt the endocrine system, hormones, and damage reproductive organs.
• Petroleum – Yup petrol peep’s on your armpits, do I need to say that this is bad?

When it is so incredibly easy to make your own DIY Deodorant recipe or choose from an abundance of natural alternatives available now, there is zero need to keep using these poisonous products.

To speed up the detoxifying of your arm pits and allow the transition to a natural deodorant less stinky, try making your own underarm detox mask. All that’s needed are a few natural ingredients!

Here’s what you need to make your Arm Pit Detox Mask-
• 1TB bentonite clay
• Raw apple cider vinegar to make a spreadable consistency that won’t run (about 2-3 tsp)
• 1 capsule of activated charcoal
• 1 drop of Tea Tree essential oil or doTerra’s Zendocrine Detoxification Blend

Simply mix the ingredients in glass bowl (do not use any metal) and apply it in an even layer to clean dry underarms and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before washing/ wiping away with a face cloth.

Hope this has been helpful guys!
